Seasons To Read
With fall fast approaching, I tracked the number of books I read over the summer and found that each book was either a gripping page-turner or a hauntingly beautiful anecdote. Yet all were exquisite in storytelling. While summer binge reading is associated with a book in hand while sitting on the beach, that is not always the case with me. My passion for reading does not begin and end in summer but spans through all four seasons. Reading is a needed daily dose akin to a daily dose of java. Whether sitting before a fireplace, on a park bench, in a barista, or in bed before the lights go out, I am always one exceptional book away from the next. However, now that the leaves are getting ready to turn to shades of orange, I did tally up the books that fed my reading fix for the summer. In addition to the array of bestsellers, I also did a fair share of flipping through some reference books that probably would not hold any interest unless you were trying to write a book yourself. In no particular order, the following were the novels that fueled my obsession:
Where the Crawdads Sing – Delia Owens
Pachinko – Min Jin Lee
Etched in Sand – Regina Calcaterra
Lilac Girls – Martha Hall Kelly
Mistress of the Ritz – Melanie Benjamin
The Woman in the Window – A.J. Finn
After a streak of stellar reading, I can only hope the next book from my queue will be another outstanding addition to the list of yearly reads. Should you take my recommendations, enjoy!
