Beyond An Answered Prayer
“Power in prayer.” Quite often, I hear that and at times, it leaves me questioning (being honest here), because when an unanswered prayer goes into overtime, I wonder. Yet, when the impossible happens after months or even years of prayer, we can profess, there is a lot of power in prayer.
Mornings, in my quiet time, I open God’s beloved word, take out my journal and write out what is on my heart and in my mind. Easy enough. Then come the prayers or perhaps, best considered a list of requests and desires. Again, being honest here. So out comes the general prayer chain, “Please God, help me, heal me, get me out of debt, I need a job, my marriage is falling apart and my kids are detaching.” And the list goes on and on.
Given prayers are our communion with God, it is a huge component to our walk with Him. As long as we have a relationship with God, we will always have a reason to reach out to Him. But this is what I would really love…to hear Him audibly. When I am in a flux, nothing would bring me greater joy than to see God’s name pop up on my iPhone; to hear His voice, to answer my prayer. Well, it’s a good thing God gave us hearts because that is where we hear Him. When we sit long enough in prayer, we do get a response that speaks into the heart. That’s His promise. “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know” (Jer. 33:3).
God’s loving assurance is, He will get back to us. There IS a lot of power in prayer. Just don’t expect to get a call from Him on your iPhone. (If that happens, then please call me.)
