Culture Overdrive

By visiting loved ones scattered in various locations across the pond, we saw spaces and places that no travel brochure or tourist guide would ever put on an itinerary (unless requested). To start, we spent time in Madrid with a day trip to Toledo, a short span in Paris prior to Normandy and last, a few days in Vienna before taking a train ride to the neatest town, Retz. To walk along tiny hidden streets, traipse through local parks / plazas and eat at establishments off the tourist grid gave us a glimpse of what a ‘day-to-day’ looks like for those who do life in different cultures. Aside from all our friends abroad, one friend from NYC (who knows Paris better than any Parisian) gave us an extensive list of personal suggestions that took us to unique sites in the “City of Light.” Throughout the entire trip, we clocked in numerable steps that turned our legs into cinder blocks but then again, we scaled new heights. The time away was a big swing for us and now we are back to our ‘day-to-day’ reflecting on how it all started…with endless traveling mercies. What a trip.
